This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, Employee Relations.

This role requires your presence in Etsy's Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Learn more details about our work modes and workplace safety policies here.What's this team like at Etsy?This is a small, collaborative ER team that supports HRBPs, the business and admin on complex employee situations. The team is distributed and works across multiple time zones to provide hands-on support, often advising on various situations and working with stakeholders across the business.

This role will work closely with the HR Business Partner and Employment Counsel teams What does the day-to-day look like?Reviewing, advising on and resolving sensitive employee concerns and investigations in a timely manner, which may include interpersonal conflicts, employee complaints, performance management, disciplinary actions, and allegations of harassment, discrimination or retaliation. Conducting complex and sensitive employee investigations with support from legal partners, which may include determining appropriate investigation strategies, leading witness interviews, creating any required documents, and determining findings and recommendations for appropriate resolution. Partner collaboratively with HRBPs, Legal, Communications, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and others to advise on sensitive or nuanced issues, address performance issues and provide guidance and recommendationsReview, analyze and make recommendations on accommodations and complex leave situations in partnership with our benefits team.

Where applicable, draft well-written investigation-related documents, including leader/HRBP talking points, written warnings and other documents with little supervision.Effectively and accurately maintain confidential ER data & documentationDevelop & iterate on existing employee relations policies and processes including performance improvement plans and investigations Provide training to relevant business partners and HRBPs on employee relations topics and best practicesOf course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:7+ years Employee Relations or related experienceExperience leading a wide variety of complex employee investigations with little supervisionExcellent decision making, problem solving, critical thinking and writing skills Advanced understanding of employment and HR related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including Title VII, ADA, ADAA, and FMLA.

High emotional intelligence and strong people skillsAbility to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with compassion and equity.Ability to work collaboratively, lead and influence at all levels within the organization, and make decisions while keeping all partners and leaders informedAbility to position self as credible, proactive and a trusted thought-partner.Independent work style, balancing the need for collaboration with minimal supervision.
